Laughing Boy and Goat, Attilio Piccirilli *1866-1945), Lead, 1936 - Brookgreen Gardens, Murrells Inlet, SC 3-25-11 The eldest of six Piccirilli brothers, Attilio headed the family's stone carving studio. He was the sculptor of several important monumental and architectural works including the Maine Monument and figures on the facade of The Brooklyn Museum. The Offering, Marjorie Daingerfield (1900-1977), Bronze, 1972 - Brookgreen Gardens, Murrells Inlet, SC 3-25-11
The daughter of a painter, Elliott Daingerfield, owner of the Gainsborough Studios, Marjorie grew up in the New York art world. She was known for portraits of individuals and notables from stage and opera. The Offering was created for the garden of a church in Blowing Rock, NC, where the Daingerfield family had a summer home.

A pattern of diagonals makes this group appealing. The balance of form and ornamental treatment of details enhances the decorative quality. Maldarelli's garden sculpture often featured stylized decoration. He enjoyed a number of commissions for public monuments, architectural sculpture, and ecclesiastical works.
